  Ramona Branch Library’s Summer Reading Club continues through July 31. Enjoy.
Youth
   Baby Lapsit Storytime—(Ages 0 to 18 months) Storytime for infants and their adults with rhymes, songs and movements that emphasize adult-child interactions July 12 and 26 at 11:30 a.m.
   Preschool Storytime is each Wednesday at 11 a.m. First Wednesday, July 7, is Bilingual (English/Spanish) Storytime.
   Preschool Crafts on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.
   Grandparents and Books—Come and hear Grandma Donna read a story from a children’s book on Thursdays at 11 a.m.
   Junior Deputy Club—A safety education program for children and their parents. Topic: ”Be Safe in Your Home” will be on Thursday, July 8, at 10 a.m.
   Read to Your Breed—Sign up at the reference desk to read to a therapy dog on Tuesdays, July 13 and 27, at 4 p.m.

   Ramona Library will be closed on Monday, May 31, in honor of Memorial Day. The library is at 1406 Montecito Road (access off 16th Street) and is open at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays until 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays until 5 p.m. The library offers the following programs in May:
Families
   Family Crafts—Create colorful “make ‘n’ take” art projects on Fridays at 3 p.m. All ages are welcome.
   Mariachis for Gringos—Join author Gil Sperry for a multimedia book talk and signing followed by a live mariachi concert on Wednesday, May 19, at 3:30 p.m.
Youth

   “Big Read”—A National Endowment for the Arts grant celebrates the life of John Steinbeck, author of Grapes of Wrath, and current economic conditions. Several special programs are planned.
For All Ages
   Family Crafts: Enjoy a variety of “make ‘n’ take” art projects and crafts on Fridays at 2:30 p.m.
   Valentine’s Day Scrapbook and Card Making: Learn to scrapbook and stamp while making Valentine’s Day cards on Friday, Feb. 12, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.
Youth
   Homework Club: Students receive tutoring assistance with their homework on Mondays through Thursdays at 4 p.m.
   Bilingual English/Spanish Storytime: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m.

   With all minute details for the new library finally determined and the t’s crossed and the i’s dotted, the big equipment moved in and the long-awaited, actual excavating began the middle of last month. Now we can watch the new library being erected to its finish in December 2010.
   Starting off the New Year, Ramona Library offers programs for all ages during January:
Youth
   Bilingual English/Spanish Storytime: Join this group on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m.
   Preschool Storytime: Enjoy a fun story hour with crafts on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
   The first Wednesday of the month (Jan. 6) is Bilingual English/Spanish Storytime.
   Grandparents and Books:  Grandma Donna reads a children’s book on Thursdays at 11 a.m.
   Homework Helpers: Students are given help with homework on Mondays through Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Bridging the Gap

   Ramona celebrated the groundbreaking for its new library last month. Now all eyes are looking forward to its construction beginning this December.
   The targeted completion date is December 2010! We’re also looking forward to that spacious community room, study rooms, dedicated teen space, a larger children’s area with a homework center, a larger number of public computers, a Friends of the Library bookstore, and more.
   Library services will continue at the existing library at 1406 Montecito Road until that great December 2010 day.

   The Ramona  Library offers many special programs in the month of December:

Bridging the Gap

   Groundbreaking Day for Ramona’s new library will be on Monday, Nov. 16, at the site of the new ibrary on the corner of Main and 13th streets at 10 a.m. All will be there—the groundbreaking crews, including 2nd District Supervisor Dianne Jacob and San Diego County Library Director Jose A. Aponte, plus planners and supervisors, friends and more.
   Come join in the celebration of this long-awaited special occasion.
